BERLIN - Bauhaus Archive

BAUHAUS ARCHIVE

Visiting the Bauhaus was a great experience to see one of the most iconic design schools work but also to look at the design work on display at the archive. The architecture is simple and modern, it reflects the work of the Bauhaus. Unfortunately, it is forbidden to take photos within the archive but I managed to list names of designers and work which I found visually powerful and interesting, names such as Alfred Arndt, the German architect, Herbert Schumann German Artist, Joost Schmidt, German designer and Bauhaus master, as well as works such as 'The racing reporter' by Otto Umbehr, a mixed media collage of a reporter with replaced limbs. Paul Citroen's 'Metropolis' an image based collage depicting modern architecture and city build up. 'Boxing match' by Marianne Brandt again another collage piece using images manipulated into a new form. Hajo Rose 'High Jumper in front of Preller House' and Lyonel Feininger's 'In The Offing'.

These designers and pieces of work have influenced me in a number of ways from type styles and layout to collage techniques and colour choices, I shall continue to reference them throughout my work.
