PLAY IT LOUD - GIG POSTER GOODNESS
I visited an exhibition of screen printed works by a Manchester based illustrator and designer. His work covers bands such as wu tang clan as well as music legend Lee Scratch Perry. All the screen prints burst with colour and detail, so much so for a screen print too. The use of colours on white space makes the screen prints bold and eye catching while the majority use a simple two or 3 colour print scheme, they are far from easy and the skill can clearly be seen in the prints. I want to explore these styles of typefaces used also, the majority of my own work utilises san-serif basic fonts and a very minimal effect, I want to experiment using these styles used in these prints, which are used brilliantly yet subtly.
